With the rapid development of globalization throughout the world, the issues of industrial relations, social protection, migrant workers, rights in the workplace, and workplace safety and health has become an important topic of international discussion. As a member of ASEAN, ASEM and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Brunei Darussalam gradually develop labor standards and employment in line with International benchmark of fairness and quality.

Brunei Darussalam has become the 180th Member of the International Labour (ILO) on 17th January 2007. In addition, Brunei Darussalam has ratified the convention C182 Worst Forms of Child Labour on June 9, 2008.

International Affairs Division was established on August 1, 2007 and responsible in overseeing and ensuring that all labor obligations are managed timely and efficiently.

The functions of this division are:
  • Handle all communication with the Association of International Relations and regional through Meetings / Seminar / Symposium abroad.
  • Coordinate internal actions to be taken.
  • Monitor the entire description and of international affairs.
  • Focal Point to connect with colleagues from other states.​​
